Associate Director, Media Strategy

Haworth seeks an Associate Director, Media Strategy to lead key media accounts. The Associate Director is to effectively leverage their experience, knowledge, and leadership skills to direct strategic, innovative media recommendations. The Associate Director will oversee all aspects of the media planning process, while managing, developing, and delegating to a team of direct reports that includes Supervisors and Planners. The role will maintain senior level client exposure, being the ultimate liaison between the client and agency teams.


Media Planning

  • Hone expertise on business situation for all clients and infuse learnings into strategic plan development
  • Ultimately accountable for leading media plan development and execution from inception to completion
  • Develop the strategic framework; guide and oversee plan development
  • Responsible for overall media objectives & strategies that fulfill client goals
  • Oversee and guide evaluation criteria and optimization plans
  • Ensure channel teams are effectively briefed in order to develop tactical plans, media plan KPIs and ultimately media plan recommendations
  • Oversee all budget activity and client documents
  • Connecting measurement and analytics to ensure client objectives are met
  • Accountable for establishing positions on strategic issues related to media planning
  • Seek out, create and inspire innovative solutions to solve for client business challenges
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and innovation
  • Mastery of media fundamentals and insights analysis across all channels and planning functions

Internal Communication

  • Report to Media Director & provide guidance to Supervisor and team members on client assignments; oversee team planning process to ensure quality work and that workflow is balanced
  • Ensure productive communication and partnership across departments, agency partners and digital strategy
  • Act as a leader within the agency, promoting agency culture and enhancing team motivation

Relationships & Service

  • Direct senior client exposure
  • Own and manage all aspects of client campaigns & media services
  • Agency lead with partner agencies
  • Ultimately accountable as the day-to-day liaison between the client, media teams, and partner agencies – providing leadership, strategic direction and input for media plans
  • Responsible for establishing and fostering relationships with key strategic media partners across channels


  • Ultimately accountable for preparing and presenting media recommendations: strategic framework, insights, tactical plans, etc.
  • Ultimately accountable to oversee team member presentations
  • 8+ years of experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university – degree in Marketing, Advertising preferred; MBA bonus
  • Proven experience employing innovative thinking and creative strategic solutions
  • Superior management skills; Previous experience effectively leading a team
  • Ability to interface effectively with senior agency management and client personnel
  • Motivated to work in a team environment that promotes collaboration
  • “Self-starter”, strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize workloads
  • Strong understanding of all media types, including TV, Radio, Print, Outdoor, Digital and Social (Digital and Social experience of particular importance)
  • Strong numerical aptitude and accuracy
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
