Director, Paid Social/Search Investment

The Director, Paid Social/Search Investment will be the agency lead across both media practices by establishing the vision and value propositions for each discipline. You’ll provide strategic direction and leadership across both teams to deliver the most effective and innovative communications plans, and manage the career paths of supporting staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan Development and Maintenance

  • Oversee the development of paid social and search strategies for client businesses and ensure that recommendations and decisions are consistent with client objectives and strategies and support the Haworth value proposition
  • Assume lead role in integration of client social and search efforts and demonstrate full understanding of client’s businesses as basis for all future work
  • Evaluate/approve recommendations and presentations
  • Assume responsibility for all programs in market
  • Review accounts to ensure that they are operating profitably and efficiently
  • Investigate all new opportunities from a broad perspective to determine appropriateness and soundness of ideas and media companies
  • Continually seek innovative and breakthrough ideas, approaches and solutions

Team Management and Leadership

  • Lead team in thinking strategically about the role of both paid social and search within the media mix and help teams define tactical game plans to set strategies and develop media plans to address client needs
  • Delegate work effectively so as to not only teach direct reports, but to also deliver seamless work to clients
  • Guide and counsel teams on day-to-day activities
  • Facilitate the development and documentation of best practices for improving operational efficiencies within each team
  • Accurately, objectively and constructively evaluate staff performance via talent development process
  • Foster an environment which encourages calculated risk taking, innovation and creativity
  • Advise and direct planning staff regarding strategic points-of-view across social and search
  • Monitor quality control on daily workflow and that all processes are followed
  • Keep abreast of current events, media and industry trends that impact client business
  • Take part in the financial aspects of the account budget, staffing, projections, etc.
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, developing, and evaluating team members
REQUIREMENTS
  • 7+ years of related media planning experience, with focus on team leadership and management
    Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and/or communications preferred
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with systems/tools
  • Excellent quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency
  • Demonstrate sharp, critical thinking and effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to work within and effectively manage a team, prioritizing and organizing multiple assignments for both self and team direct reports
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with clear and proven organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in training and leading teams
